William Mary announces 16 football signees

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (February 7, 2007) -- William and Mary head football coach

Jimmye Laycock has announced that 15 prep players and one transfer
student-athlete have signed letters of intent to play football for the Tribe
starting this fall.
"Overall, I think the coaching staff has done an excellent job of signing a
complete class this year," remarked Laycock.
The incoming freshman class consists of six student-athletes from the state
of Virginia, while the remaining prospects hail from eight different states,
ranging from Georgia to New York. The make up of the group consists of
eight linemen, five athletes who will give the staff options to contribute
at either defensive back, linebacker or running back/receiver, and one
quarterback and a punter/wide receiver.
William and Mary will return 14 starters from last season¹s squad, including
eight on the offensive side of the ball. The Tribe will open the season on
Thursday, August 30th hosting Delaware in what will be the first regular
season, weekday night game in Zable Stadium history.

Defensive Player of the Year Recorded three quarterback sacks and forced
two fumbles that led to touchdowns in the state championship game
