FIRST TEAM OFFENSE

Center: Dallas Harper 2013 Broadway 5-7, 235 Junior center anchored the offensive line for a Gobbler team that ran for over 3,000 yards on offense. Harper was named first-team all Region III and first-team all-Valley District at center and will be one of three returning starters for Broadway's offensive line in 2012.
Guard: Josh Hess 2012 Richlands 6-7, 305 Second straight all-state selection for Hess, who led the way for Richlands' offense. Hess has verbally committed to Florida International and was a three-year starter on the Richlands' offensive line, seeing time at both guard and tackle in 2011.
Guard: Travis Buzzo 2012 Liberty (Bealeton) 6-2, 253 Buzzo has improved steadily during his high school career and helped Liberty's running game average 287 yards per game on the ground this season. A coach's son, Buzzo has an excellent understanding of the game and added 2.5 sacks and 33 tackles on defense.
Tackle: Justin Baker 2012 Briar Woods 6-0, 265 Baker was the key player on both the offensive and defensive lines for Briar Woods in their two Division 4 state championship runs the past two seasons. The JMU commit was a first-team all-Dulles District and Region II tackle and defensive lineman. His work on offense helped Briar Woods gain over 5,100 yards as a team (3,000+ rushing, 2,100+ passing) and he finished third on the team in tackles on defense.
Tackle: Jonathan Burton 2012 Courtland 6-6, 301 Burton was the building block for Courtland's playoff success the past two seasons as the Cougars made Region I championship appearances both years. The strong running game ran behind Burton more often than not and he earned all-Battlefield and Region I honors in both 2010 and 2011.
Tight-end: Cam Serigne 2013 Briar Woods 6-3, 215 Serigne led the Division 4 state champions in receiving with 53 catches for over 700 yards and 10 touchdowns and earned first-team honors in the Dulles District and Region II. He also has the size to be a very good blocker, but his biggest value for the Falcons was through the air.
Wide
Receiver: Tyler Fisher 2012 Northside 5-10, 180 The Blue Ridge District and Region III offensive player of the year, Fisher was among the most versatile players in the state this year. He finished the year with 39 catches for 921 yards and 12 touchdowns, but also led the Vikings in rushing yards in multiple games, finishing with over 1,200 offensive yards for the season.
Wide
Receiver: Thomas Smith 2012 Lafayette 6-3, 210 Smith had a tremendous season for Lafayette, catching 36 passes for 843 yards and 13 touchdowns, despite facing double teams much of the season in an offense that was committed to running the ball. The Virginia Tech commit also was named as the first-team kick returner on both the Bay Rivers and Region I coaches' teams.
Running
Back: Sam Wright 2012 Cave Spring 5-11, 195 Wright was virtually unstoppable this season and the key to Cave Spring's run to the Region IV, Division 3 title. He finished the year with 2,789 yards and 40 touchdowns in 13 games, an average of 214 yards and 3 touchdowns per game. He was held under 150 yards just twice during the year (his 132 yard, 2 touchdown effort in the state semifinals was his lowest output) against a tough schedule with nine of his 13 games against playoff teams.
Running
Back: Ethan Preston 2012 James Monroe 5-11, 191 Preston was a revelation for the Division 3 runners-up, after earning a spot on last season's VirginiaPreps.com 2nd Team as a defensive lineman. The switch to the offensive backfield was no issue, however, as Preston's quickness and explosive running style worked perfectly for the Yellow Jackets. He finished the year with 1,907 yards and 33 touchdowns and averaged 8.7 yards per carry in 14 games.
Quarterback: Kendall Becraft 2013 Brookville 6-0, 171 Becraft led Brookville to its second state championship in school history, completing 156 of 266 passes (59%) for 2,687 yards and 28 touchdowns. The junior, who has started since midway through his freshman season, continues to be effective out of the no huddle, shotgun spread favored by the Bees and has very good presence in the pocket and the ability to withstand pressure.
Athlete: Harvey Taylor 2012 Magna Vista 5-9, 176 Taylor led AA quarterbacks in combined passing and rushing yards for a second consecutive season and also put up more than 40 total touchdowns for the second straight year. In leading Magna Vista to a third Piedmont District title, Taylor threw for 1,796 yards and 15 touchdowns and ran for 1,467 yards and 27 touchdowns with just seven interceptions.
FIRST TEAM DEFENSE
Defensive End: Wyatt Teller 2013 Liberty (Bealeton) 6-5, 253: Teller has been a standout for Liberty for the past two seasons and had 85 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, 5 blocked kicks and 3 interceptions for the Eagles, who allowed just 11.5 points per game this year.
Defensive End: Dylan Stallings 2012 Grafton 6-5, 230: JMU-bound defensive end led the Clippers defense to the Region I, Division 4 title with 32 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. Stallings earned the Bay Rivers District defensive player of the year award for his work this season and also caught 22 passes and four touchdowns as a tight end on the offensive side of scrimmage.
Defensive Line:
Derek Dowrey 2012 Handley 6-3, 279: Dowrey earned defensive player of the year honors in the Northwestern District and in the Winchester area after leading the Judges with 107 tackles and 13.5 sacks. His effort against double teams also enabled Handley to record more sacks than in 2010 as a team.
Defensive Line: Korren Kirven 2012 Brookville 6-4, 285 Kirven is one of the top uncommitted seniors in Virginia and was a major part of Brookville's run to the Division 3 state title. He was virtually unstoppable in one-on-one situations on the defensive line this season and was put in the backfield for the Bees' postseason run, as well.
Linebacker: Devon Johnson 2012 Richlands 6-2, 220 Johnson was the best player on both sides of the ball for the Blue Tornado, capping his Richlands career with over 85 solo tackles and triple digit total tackles this season. Over 1,800 yards and 32 touchdowns on offense didn't hinder Richlands' cause, either.
Linebacker: Josh Eberly 2012 Broadway 5-9, 192 A two-time Valley District Defensive Player of the Year and this year's Region III defensive player of the year, Eberly led Broadway's unbeaten region III, division 4 champion team with over 130 tackles, 5 sacks, 20 tackles for loss, 4 fumble recoveries and 4 blocked kicks.
Linebacker: John Piette 2012 Kettle Run 6-0, 210 Piette, a three-year starter for Kettle Run, led AA's stingiest defense this season with 141 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 2 touchdowns and 3 turnovers. The Cougars allowed just 7.3 points per game and the leadership of Piette and his fellow seniors has put the program on the map in AA.
Linebacker: Matt Rolin 2013 Briar Woods 6-3, 195 The junior led the Division 4 state champions in tackles, had more than 15 tackles for loss and 6 sacks from the linebacker spot. He also was second on the team (behind fellow Dulles District and Region II first-team choice Alex Carter) in pass breakups, proving his versatility on defense week in and week out.
Defensive
Back: Julian Bumbrey 2013 James Monroe 5-10, 160 Bumbrey was a ball hawk for the Division 3 runners-up, picking off 10 passes this season (four in the postseason) and returning five of them for touchdowns. Brookville spent much of the championship game throwing away from Bumbrey, who was a dangerous return man on special teams this year, as well.
Defensive Back:
Brenden Motley 2012 Christiansburg 6-4, 194 The Virginia Tech commit was the Blue Demons' field general on both offense and defense. At free safety, Motley was responsible for some big hits on defense, but also had 3 interceptions (2 in the postseason). On offense, he totaled over 1,500 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Defensive Back: Jake Kite 2013 Hidden Valley 6-1, 182: Kite earned the River Ridge and Region IV defensive player of the year honors after totaling 95 solo tackles, 53 assists, four interceptions and 2 blocked kicks for Hidden Valley in 2011.
Athlete: Alex Carter 2012 Briar Woods 6-0, 185: The Stanford commit was a contributor in every facet of Briar Woods' run to a second straight Division 4 title. Carter finished with four interceptions, double digit pass breakups, had 3 defensive or return touchdowns and was among the Falcon leaders in all-purpose yards.
FIRST TEAM SPECIAL TEAMS
Kick Returner: Zach Snell 2012 Christiansburg 5-10, 171: Snell was a standout for the Blue Demons for the past three seasons, leading the team in rushing the past two and contributing on defense and special teams for the division 4 runners-up. Snell returned two kickoffs for touchdowns this year, including a crucial 85-yard return against Salem in a 42-36 Christiansburg win. Snell also ran for over 1,300 yards and scored 24 total touchdowns in 2011.
Kicker: Jacob Vaught 2012 Lafayette 6-0, 170: Senior all-Region I and all-Bay Rivers District kicker hit five of seven field goal attempts for Lafayette this season and converted 47 of 48 extra points. Vaught was also a weapon on kickoffs, sending 21 kickoffs for touchbacks and averaged 40 yards per punt, as well.
Punter: Mitchell Ludwig 2013 Abingdon 5-11, 170: First-team all-Region IV punter averaged 44 yards per punt on 43 kicks with a long of 74 yards and 16 punts inside the 20-yard line. Ludwig also hit on six field goals with a long of 49 yards and was perfect on extra points in 2011.
