Princess Anne's Darnell Dozier has built the Lady Cavaliers into a powerhouse.

In 23 seasons at the helm, Dozier has compiled a gaudy record of 606-53 overall (.919) with nine State Championships, five in a row after the Virginia Beach program defeated Thomas Edison 61-45 in the Girls Class 5 title game held at VCU's Siegel Center in Richmond earlier this month.

That capped a 26-1 season for Princess Anne, which beat Richmond area teams L.C. Bird by 24 and Highland Springs by 31 in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the State Tournament, respectively.

Pacing Princess Anne with 17 points was sophomore guard Jasha Clinton. Junior forward Brianna Jackson, the VHSL Class 5 State Player of the Year, recorded a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Mississippi State signee Xaria Wiggins, who earned State Player of the Year honors as a junior in 2016-17, closed out her Princess Anne career with a fourth straight state title. While she and fellow D-1 prospects Bryonna Ferebee (Radford) and Makayla Dickens (Albany) graduate, the cupboard will be plenty full for another title run next year.

A total of ten varsity players are slated to return for the Lady Cavaliers next season, including top scorer and freshman sensation Aziaha James.

Coach Dozier came on as a guest on High School Sports Talk Presented by VirginiaPreps.com on ESPN Radio 94.1 with Coach Ed Young and Matthew Hatfield on Saturday, March 24th to talk about his team's latest Championship.
