Offensive Player of the Year – Stonewall Jackson, Chris Garrett, 12th

Chris Garrett - a first team selection at three

different positions, runningback, defensive back and punt returner. Those

selections about say it all for this outstanding athlete. Garrett has

rushed for over 1,300 yards this season and has averaged almost 7 yards per

carry! Garrett was also one of the Raiders leaders on defense with a

number of key interceptions and sacks for a unit that showed significant

improvement over it's performance from last season.

Defensive Player of the Year – Potomac, Myron Rowell, 12th

Myron Rowell was a key contributor the Potomac

Panther playoff run this season. A standout on defense, Rowell also

contributed on offense with his blocking and timely pass receptions, and on

special teams with his tackling, recovering of fumbles, etc.

Coach of the Year – Stonewall Jackson, Loren Johnson

Coach Johnson has helped put the Stonewall

Jackson program back on track. His team improved from only victories a

year ago to qualify for the Division 6 playoffs this season - and advance to the

Northwest Region Championship game this week against C. D. Hylton. The

school had not qualified for the playoffs since 1996. The Raiders

resurgence has been aided by the senior leadership of Garrett, Chris

Lancaster (TE), Ryaan Nokes (OL), Chris Lancaster (DL), and Andrew Fisher (LB)

and the youthful enthusiasm of Ricky Milbourne (QB), Ryan Williams (RB), John

Carter (RB), John Branch (DL) and many others.
