The first thing that jumps out of the initial release of the prospect
rankings for the Class of 2013 is that the quarterback position, long a staple
of Virginia, is restocked after not producing a national level player from the
2012 class.  Both Bucky Hodges (Salem) and Ryan Burns (Stone Bridge) rank in the top
five in the Commonwealth and neither is likely to move too far down the list
over the course of the next two seasons. Both possess the physical make up and
have all the skill sets that college recruiters seek in a field general.
However, it is the defense which will likely hold the top spot in the rankings
as Hytlon's E.J. Levenberry Jr. (C.D. Hylton) has long ago become a national level recruit and
analysts already feel comfortable comparing him to Hermitage linebacker Curtis
Grant, the nation's number one linebacker from the Class of 2011 group.
The Richmond area seems particularly loaded in the rising junior class as eight
of the top twenty prospects currently ranked come from the Central Region with
one other playing at a Richmond-based private school. Certainly this list will
change as more and more players are unearthed but folks in the state's capital
are destined to see an outstanding product on the field for the next two
seasons.
