VES Advances to State Semi's

Virginia Episcopal advanced to the VISAA D2 semi-finals with a 52-51 come-from-behind road win over Norfolk Collegiate. Justice Kithcart scored 15 of his 22 points in the 2nd half to lead the comeback win.

The Bishops were on the brink of playing their final game of the season. They trailed Norfolk Collegiate by seven points on the road with four minutes to go and with their star player Sacha Killeya-Jones on the bench in foul trouble. However, Kithcart would not be denied and he scored the games next seven points including a 3-pointer with 2:17 on the clock to tie the game at 48.

Sacha Killeya-Jones came up with the game-winning play when his team needed him the most. He stole the inbound pass with 28 seconds remaining and converted a 3-point play to give the Bishops a 51-50 lead. Killeya-Jones finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

After Norfolk Collegiate missed jump shot, 7-foot-0 center Admir Bosevic made one of two free throws setting the Oaks up for one more chance to tie the game. Adam Grant drove the lane but was fouled with 1.6 seconds to go. However, he missed the first free throw and Virginia Episcopal hung on for the win.

It was a heartbreaking loss for Norfolk Collegiate who were coming off a TCIS tournament championship and a 1st round bye in the State tournament. The Oaks three senior captains combined to score 41 of the Oaks 51 points. Grant led the Oaks with 17 points while adding seven rebounds and three steals.
