Class of 2012 |
Class of 2013 Woodberry's fourth quarter surge fell short, as the Tigers take their first loss of the season, 28-21. After Blair got off to a 14-0 lead, Woodberry's CJ Prosise returned a kickoff 70 yards for a Woodberry touchdown in late second quarter, but Blair Academy responded by returning the following kickoff to the Woodberry 37, then quarterback Ryan Gallagher connected with Robert Manning on the next play to put Blair ahead at the half 21-7.
In the second half, Rogers Clark forced a fumble, which Greer Martini recovered for a Woodberry touchdown. Blair immediately responded with an 80-yard kickoff return to keep a 14 point lead. Heys McMath connected with Doug Randolph for his first touchdown of the season, a 38-yard pass to put Woodberry down by one score.
The defense stopped a Blair Academy drive to give Woodberry one more chance with 4:19 left, but a three-and-out series gave Blair the ball to run out the clock. Woodberry's falls to 1-1 on the season, while Blair wins their season opener.
