Morgan makes it lucky number 13 in July for VT

As expected - Varina High School standout quarterback
Davon Morgan made a verbal commitment today to Virginia Tech at a press conference held in Midlothian. Morgan's commitment continued Tech's amazing run in July, a month in which they have garnered 13 commitments, out of the 15 received so far for the Class of 2007.

Morgan, who was recruited as a defensive back, stands in at 6-foot tall and about 190 pounds, and choose the Hokies over Tennessee and Michigan.
Morgan is shown pictured with Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer, during
one of Morgan's visits to the Tech campus last year.  Tech was the first
school to make an official offer to Morgan, doing so last winter.
A four star rated recruit by Rivals.com, Morgan is just one of three prospects from the current Blue Devils team that Tech is currently recruiting. Teammates
Jamar Jackson and Bud Tribbey have been offered by the Tech staff after strong showings at the Hokies one day camp earlier this month. The same camp at which some observers labeled Morgan the best 'athlete' in attendance. Though known primarily as a quarterback in high school, Morgan did play safety last season for Gary
Chilcoat's squad, and was responsible for nine interceptions.
With an incredible 13 commitments so far this month, the Hokies may still add to that total with Denbigh High School (Newport News) prospect
Jaymes Brooks set to announce his decision on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 296 poound offensive lineman is thought to be leaning to the Hokies over offers from Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. With the roll the Hokies have been on it would almost be an unthinkable upset if Brooks were to choose another school.
With the Virginia Tech 2007 recruiting class filling up quickly, several other prospects may be on the verge of committing as well. Stay tuned to VirginiaPreps.com for continual updates on in-state prospects and their recruitment.
