Brookville coach Jeff Woody calls Victor Montalbano "pound for pound the best

football player I have coached."  That's impressive when you consider that
Woody has had prospects like Logan Thomas, who is set to start this season for
Virginia Tech. and Zack McCray, another highly sought after prospect who's also
in Blacksburg playing for the Hokies.
Montalbano is a four year starter for Woody and the Bees who plays on both
the offensive and defensive lines.  Although Montalbano stands only
5-foot-10 and weights in at 220 pounds, he is the perfect example of a prospect
that you can not judge strictly by the numbers.  Coach Woody put it best
"Unfortunately the college coaches coming in to recruit don't measure the size
of heart, if that were the case Victor would undoubtedly earn a collegiate
scholarship to a big time NCAA program.  We expect Victor to carry a heavy
load along the offensive and defensive lines for us this fall. He will be a
starter at defensive end as well as center.  Along with Korren Kirven, they
will be a tough tandem to deal with along the defensive front."
Woody also told us "Montalbano is the only four year starter that I have
coached and who is on the field for Brookville this year, having started in over
40 games going into his senior year dating back to the days of Logan Thomas and
our state title game appearance. He started on the offensive line as a guard on
the 2008 13-1 district and region championship teams. With that being said he
brings a lot of experience to the table which makes him a great leader on and
off the field. His weight room numbers are tremendous having squatted 585,
benched 350, and power cleaned 315; not to mention he runs an unofficial 4.7 40.
He is also stellar on the wrestling mat having finished 2nd in the 2010 state
wrestling tournament as a junior."
Montalbano is not only a standout athlete, but performs well in the classroom
as well, with a 3.5+ GPA.    He has been busy this summer
attending many college camps, impressing at every stop. So far James Madison,
Richmond, VMI and Liberty along with Randolph Macon are showing the most
interest.

Coach Woody closed our conversation about Montalbano with the following:
"Wherever he lands he will excel, make a college team better, and please the
coach he plays for. There is no question in my mind that Victor could start on
any team in the state of Virginia, and I'm glad he's wearing the maroon and
gold."
