King George Class of 2024 wide receivers Mekhai White and Chanz Wiggins chats with VirginiaPreps.com's Matthew Hatfield after their 55-10 win over Massaponax on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

White scored four touchdowns in the first half, including on an 18-yard run on a jet sweep in the first period. On the night, he had three grabs for 69 yards and three scores to bring his season totals to 14 receptions for 451 yards and 7 TD's through five contests.

Wiggins had four receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown. That ups his season totals to 14 catches for 264 yards and 3 TD's. Both are heavily prospects after sophomore campaigns where Wiggins caught 64 balls for 498 yards and 6 TD's, while White had 27 grabs for 458 yards and 9 TD's.

In White's case, he holds over 40 scholarship offers with reigning National Champ Georgia in the picture as well as Tennessee. New offers from Colorado and Kansas followed this performance.

As for Wiggins, his Power 5 offer sheet features such ACC programs as North Carolina and Virginia Tech as well as Maryland and Penn State from the Big Ten, among others. The Foxes are now 5-0 overall and figure to be one of the contenders in a rugged Region 4B for the playoffs.

Postgame Video Interview with King George Coach Vern Lunsford:

King George Coach Vern Lunsford chats after his team's 55-10 win over Massaponax on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

Lunsford's Foxes improved to 5-0 overall, notching their second victory in a span of five days. The Foxes have won all five games this season by double-digits and this win over Massaponax marked the first in the head-to-head series since 2001.

Through five contests, Lunsford's King George squad is putting up 51.2 points per game and allowed just 6 PPG.

In a short amount of time, Lunsford has elevated the King George program as their 10-1 mark in 2021 was the first time the Foxes finished with double-digit victories since a 13-1 record in 1995. That came on the heels of an 8-1 record with the Region 4B crown and a State Semifinal trip during the Covid-shortened season from the spring (2020-21). Prior to that, the Foxes finished with a losing record four times over a six-year stretch.

The 2022 Foxes will play their third game in a span of seven days when they visit winless Chancellor on October 14th.

First on the recruiting front with White and Wiggins - it appears some leaders are established for these two dynamic pass catchers. In White's case, he's not hiding that Georgia is the top dog for his services. He loved his visit there and they are making him a priority. But Tennessee, which has a huge SEC showdown this weekend against Alabama, could be one of the 40-plus offers on his sheet that is able to make up some ground and be a serious threat when it's all said and done.

Wiggins has a lengthy list as well and so far he indicated that both UNC and Virginia Tech are serious contenders. The Heels have done extremely well across the Commonwealth and this is a wideout that the Hokies will need to further develop that relationship with to keep him venturing out of state.

Those two complement each other so well and defenses are really in a bind trying to account for both. In a sense, I walked out thinking of White being the big-play threat that stretches the opponent vertically, while Wiggins is more of the possession target that moves the chains that way. Yet, they're both talented enough to easily flip the script on you.

Others on this King George team can play at the next level as well with QB Zach Ferguson putting forth a very accurate performance (10 of 11 for 166 yards with 4 TD's, plus a TD run) throwing the ball to go with his steady play on defense. Tailback Aydin Woolfolk has an offer from Navy and runs very hard, so other FBS and FCS programs may keep close tabs on him as Signing Day approaches.

Defensively, off the edge the likes of senior LB/DE Xavien Thompson and freshman DE/LB Elijah Golden give them a nice mix of experience and promising youth. Golden has quickly garnered offers from Maryland, Pitt and Virginia Tech. With his size (already 6-3, 210), look for that list to explode over the next couple of years.

As for King George's title hopes in Class 4, the defense looks better than anticipated in giving up just 30 points to date. They have enough offensive versatility to consistently move the ball and score. Barring injuries that test their depth, particularly on the lines, the Foxes are going to be a very tough out, even in Region 4B where favorites like Varina and Dinwiddie out of the Richmond area are expected by most to be playing on Thanksgiving weekend for the regional crown.
