Kain, a four year varsity player, has been instrumental in County's continuous rise and stay atop local, regional, and state standings.
Kain has had several memorable moments for the Lady Raiders.
The first for Kain came as a sophomore. In 2008, Kain picked up a loose ball near the top of the key and put up a shot that bounced off the front of the rim and fell through the net with no time left giving the Lady Raiders a dramatic 48-47 victory over the Freedom Eagles in the Dulles District Tournament Championship.
Then last year, as a junior, Kain was once again big in the Region II Championship game versus Charlottesville. With her team trailing by 10 in the first half, Kain erupted for 19 first half points as she finished with a game high 31 points as County rallied to defeat the Black Knights by a 73-61 score.
Kain would continue her outstanding Tournament play as she tallied 23 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in helping the Lady Raiders earn their first State Basketball Championship in school history over the Black Knights of Turner Ashby. This was a major accomplishment considering the school opened its doors in 1954.
For her career, Kain is currently 42 points away from a thousand as she has a total of 958 total points. In the last two seasons, Kain has averaged 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists while shooting 75% from the free throw line. To date, Kain's career record is 76-19, an 80% winning percentage.
Currently, Kain and the Raiders are ranked #1 in the Associated Press AA State Rankings and 18th in the Washington Post Top 20.
County is tied for first with Freedom in the Dulles District standings at 7-1 and has an overall record of 13-2.
