Hawks Look For Repeat

The Hanover Hawks are one game away from winning
back-to-back State championships after defeating

Sherando 6-4 at Liberty University in Lynchburg.


Sophomore Greg Lyttle struckout five in 4.1
innings to get the win and Trevor Denton finished the with two flawless innings. Denton also
collected half of the Hanover hits with three
singles.


The game was scoreless after the first couple of
innings until Hanover plated a run in the bottom
of the third. They scored two more in the fourth
on RBI singles by Trevor Denton and Elliott Sledd had
scoring Cayman Richardson and John Gregory.


The Hawks added some insurance runs with three
scores in the bottom of the sixth. Gregory was
hit by a pitch, Denton singled, and sled reached
on a fielders choice to load the bases. Anthony Zona
drove in a run a sacrifice fly and 
Richardson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded scoring the final
run.
Sherando, who won the State AA championship last year, scored two runs in the 5th inning to make things interesting. Hayden Fox singled to left field to drive in both Reid Entsminger and Chase Smallwood.
