Final VHSL Hoops Top Tens for 2022-23

It was a season of dominance and brilliance for so many teams across Virginia High School Basketball in 2022-23.

Taking home State Championships were Hayfield, Woodside, Varina, Northside, John Marshall and Lancaster.

In the cases of John Marshall and Lancaster, they completed undefeated dream seasons. Hayfield nearly pulled that feat off, but for the second year in a row, they won every game against foes from the state of Virginia to complete the repeat trick. Also repeating were the Varina Blue Devils, who won a thrilling title game with E.C. Glass.

For, Varina it was their third crown in six years. John Marshall now has 11 State Championships, five of which have occurred since 2014.

Two great comebacks were seen in the Class 5 and Class 3 title games, where one team from the Roanoke area came out on top as Northside recovered from coughing up its early lead to take down Hopewell, while Woodside edged Patrick Henry-Roanoke on a buzzer-beater from Christian Greenlaw.
