Week 9 AA Player of the Week
This week's player of the week is part of a program that has turned a three-year losing skid around with five consecutive victories that have them in playoff contention in region III. With an overwhelming performance on offense, defense and special teams, Staunton River's Wesley Gates earns this week's Player of the Week honors as part of the Golden Eagles 31-20 win over Alleghany. Gates had two 36-yard touchdown receptions to go along with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a late 56-yard interception return for a touchdown that sealed the victory. Between offense and special teams, Gates accounted for over 250 yards on the night. Congratulations to Staunton River's Wesley Gates, VirginiaPreps.com AA Player of the Week!
