Last night Dinwiddie ran through Matoaca like a speeding freight train that could not be stopped. It is an ironic way to describe this Generals win as in the first few minutes of the game it appeared Matoaca would be the one to derail the Generals. Matoaca ended the first two General possessions of the game with interceptions but on the Warriors second possession themselves, they were intercepted. Matoaca was forced off their track and then the Generals 1-2 punch of Harry Dalton & Raphael Tucker took over.

Also derailing the Warriors were penalties. Matoaca was constantly being hit with flags, 12 total on the night, 8 in the first half alone! When they weren't holding or getting personal fouls they were turning the ball over. QB Ryley Justus had an uncharacteristic night with 4 interceptions! The Warriors also had a fumble in the game. Four different Generals intercepted Ryley's pass attempts.

The excitement, the anticipation, the hope that had been felt coming into this one from the Matoaca fans and players eroded as the night wore on. By the fourth quarter when the Warriors scored their fourth and final touchdown of the night, the stands were half empty. On the other side of the field, however, the cowbells and Navy Nation was as loud as they had been all night. The Generals had come to Matoaca and taken care of business.

Addressing his team following the victory, Coach Mills spoke of growth... growth over the season, growth in the game itself. A young Dinwiddie defense early in the season while absorbing losses from the likes of Glenville, Maury & Thomas Dale had gained experienced and were now seasoned. Coach Mills spoke of five games... five games to go... reiterating that they are the defending state champs and that Class 4 runs through them. Class 4 might very well run through them and last night the Generals ran through Matoaca.

Harry Dalton & Raphael Tucker combined for 6 of the 7 General touchdowns on their way to 350 yards! Proving once again that with these two at the helm of this offense, you can never count out the Generals.

To start the game Dinwiddie on 2 possessions netted 26 yards on 12 plays but the killer was Dillon Newton-Short who early on was already headlines such as 'Short Comes Up Big'. Off the first interception Matoaca put together a 5-play 57 yard drive that saw Montino Williams cover 30 yards rumbling through Dinwiddie for the score.

It was a different story on the second INT. The Warriors overcame a penalty of 8 yards to get within 4 yards of a first down and sometimes you live by the pass and sometimes you die by the pass. Zion Boisseau intercepted the Ryley Justus pass and 2 plays later Harry Dalton carried it in for the first of 4 rushing TD's on the night for the junior QB.

Dinwiddie got the ball back after forcing a 3 & out but disaster nearly struck when Raphael Tucker put the ground on the ball but the instinctive Se'Von MCDowell was quick to get to the ball and keep the ball moving forward. Forward they went with Dalton scoring his second TD of the night. The first quarter coming to a close with two Dinwiddie TD's after the worst of starts.

Although Dinwiddie added to their lead with 2 TD's with Harry Dalton scoring from 53 yards out and throwing a 35-yard shot to Caleb Bowles, the second quarter was largely about defense.

Kahlial Parham of Dinwiddie got to Ryley Justus with a sack on 2nd & 15. On the next defensive series the Generals held Matoaca to a 3 & out.

Disaster nearly struck Dinwiddie when Harry Dalton fumbled but he was able to recover his own fumble.

Senior linebacker Se'Von McDowell forced a Warriors fumble, recovered the ball and returned it to the house. The fumble and recovery would stand, the touchdown would not due to a holding call.

Matoaca's Victor Alofabi with have his own fumble recovery on Harry Dalton's second fumble of the night.

To put the emphasis on this defensive attack was a Mickiel Johnson interception with the Warriors facing 2nd & 5.

Matoaca did try to keep it close with a 5-play, 70 yard drive that saw Ryley Justus sailing the ball through the air culminating with a 30-yard pass to Dillon Newton-Short.

Raphael Tucker & Harry Dalton continued to shine in the third quarter.

Tucker had a pass break-up that broke up the rhythm of Matoaca's first possession of the second half.

Tucker also had a 54-yard touchdown run on a 2-play, 70 yard drive in the late stages of the third quarter.

Meanwhile Dalton crushed an 81-yard touchdown run on a 67-yard drive... yeah, math doesn't equate until you figure in the false start against Dinwiddie that backed them up.

Matoaca's second possession of the quarter saw Montino Williams hit for a loss of 6 yards by Khalial Parham and then Robert Pettaway intercepting a Ryley Justus pass, one of four INT's for an aggressive & opportunistic Generals defense.

Matoaca did get on the board in the third quarter with an 80-yard drive that saw Ryley Justus & Bryce Yates hookup for 3 plays and 31 yards with Yates hauling in the Warriors third TD of the night from 16 yards out.

In the fourth quarter it was all about Dinwiddie just working on the clock although it did not keep them from another score. The Generals just kept feeding Raphael Tucker who touched the ball on 10 of 13 plays for the Generals and scoring from 3 yards out for his 2nd touchdown of the game. That put an exclamation point on the offense with another long drive (66 yards).

Joshua Adams put the exclamation point on the defensive side of the ball with the Generals fourth interception of the game

Dinwiddie would not threaten any further on offense, their next to last offensive possession netted 15 yards on 5 plays. Matoaca would get the ball back with 4:33 to go in the fourth quarter and put together a 9-play, 63-yard drive that saw Ryley Justus throw 4 completions for 45 yards between Dillon Newton-Short & Montino Williams. It would be Williams who would haul it in from 15 yards out for his 2nd TD of the night... he scored the first Warriors TD of the night and the final... bookending 7 General TD's and 4 interceptions from QB Ryley Justus.

Harry Dalton accounted for 5 TD's & 232 yards of offense against Matoaca. 188 yards on the ground and 4 TD's plus a 35-yard TD pass just reminds us of how dangerous Dalton is.

Raphael Tucker pounded away all night to the tune of 162 yards and 2 TD's of his own on 23 carries. He also had 6 tackles on defense showing his no one-trick pony.

Mickiel Johnson with 5 tackles and an interception.

Se'von McDowell with 4 tackles, a forced fumble and the recovery.

Also going to throw some love to Dillon Newton-Short who had 2 interceptions early for the Warriors and 82 yards receiving on 7 catches and a touchdown.

Dinwiddie improves to 18-16-1 versus Matoaca all-time.

77 points combined is the second most points these two have combined for with the first being 80 in 2003.

Coach Mills improves to 3-0 versus Coach Stoots and 15-4 versus Matoaca all-time.
