Kellam had to rally after trailing Salem 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning. Salem manufactured a run in the third inning
after Miguel Ruiz walked and reached 3rd base on a sacrifice bunt and a stolen base. Ruiz would score an error by the catcher.

The Knights scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth with a bunt single from Austin Jackson, and single to right from Jesse Marinette and bunt single by Henry Reaume. In the 5th inning, a 2-out, 2-run error on a fly ball to right field allowed David Mulac and Tyler Harding to score making the score 5-1. Mulac finished the day 2 of 3 from the plate with two runs scored.

Coates ended the game striking out 4 of the final 6 batters. He defeated Salem 5-2 earlier in the season and did not allow an earned run in that matchup.
