Coaches for the Cure Preview

The host school Trinity Episcopal will kick things off at 2:00pm when they face the Phoebus Phantoms from Hampton Virginia in a 804 vs 757 matchup. Trinity has a great backcourt with junior Josh Brown and senior Abraham Ferrell-Logan. Brown has offers from Drexel and Western Kentucky while Ferrell-Logan is one of the best players in the State not to have a D1 offer. Senior Austin Williams (6-foot-8) has four offers including one from Minnesota. Phoebus is led by Jamar Belsches and Joe Addison who also plays quarterback for the Phantoms football team.

The second game will match Quality Education from North Carolina against Coolidge High School out of Washington D.C. Quality Education has already defeated Oak Hill Academy and Carlisle this year. They have 6 or 7 potential D1 recruits including Virginia native Marsellis Purvis. Others to watch are 6-foot-9 Ibrahiima Diallo, 6-foot-1 combo guard, 6-foot-9 sophomore Papa Ndiaye and 6-foot-4 wing Dei'Shawn Anderson. Calvin Coolidge won the DCIAA championship last season and added Bishop O Connell wing Jamall Gregory to the team this year. Gregory is leading the team averaging 20 points and over 10 rebounds per game. Guard Sam Briggs averages 13 points.

At 5:30, two teams in the Virginiapreps Private School Top 10 meet when Benedictine plays Carlisle. The Cadets are led by Indiana recruit Robert Johnson. The Cadets also have Josh Bailey who is receiving some interest and 6-foot-8 junior Jackson White. Carlisle will feature 7-foot-0 sophomore Thon Maker who is the #3 overall prospect in the 2016 class according to Rivals.Com. The Chiefs also have Thon's brother 6-foot-9 freshman Matur Maker as well as point guard Eric Johnson who has an offer from East Tennessee State. Junior Kaleb Johnson (6-foot-6) is also a D1 prospect.


Finally, Christchurch will take on the Virginiapreps #1 ranked 3A school the John Marshall Justices. Christchurch features the only Rivals 5-star Virginia prospect Devin Robinson who is headed to Florida. John Marshall has several D1 prospect headline by sophomore Jeremy Sheppard who already has two offers. Nate Williams may be asked to guard Robinson as will junior Taqqi Muhammed. Forward Greg Jones is one of the top prospects from the class of 2017.
