With only two weeks left in the regular season, the Battlefield District pecking order has become clear.
Well, at least in terms of who is the top dog (or fox) it has.
King George rolled to an easy 52-29 victory over visiting Courtland last Friday night, remaining unbeaten in the process.
Senior quarterback Charles Mutter completed 22 of 38 passes for 272 yards and five touchdowns in the contest—with classmate Javon Campbell hauling in all five of them.
Campbell finished the night with seven receptions for 81 yards, and he now has 30 catches for a district-high 521 yards and six scores for the Foxes (4-0).
“I don’t think there’s a DB [defensive back] or a defense that can cover him, in the district or the area," Mutter told the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star after the game. "He’s a crazy athlete to be able to play with and around.”
King George is stocked with more weapons in its air arsenal than just Campbell, though. Freshman Chanz Wiggins, a 6-foot-4 wideout who already has scholarship offers from Division I schools Maryland, Pittsburgh, Penn State and Virginia, led the Foxes with six receptions for 97 yards.
"We've got a lot of talented playmakers," Mutter said recently. "I have no shortage of options to distribute the ball to, and they're all extremely dangerous with the ball in their hands."
