Boo Williams Elite team doesn't have an inside threat like Arkansas recruit Marshawn Powell but the team may be more athletic and versatile with Travis McKie and James McAdoo in the starting lineup. They didn't seem to miss Steven Pledger's outside shooting with Andre Dawkins filling the basket with nine treys against the Virginia Storm. I felt McKie was the best all-around player at the tournament with his scoring, defense, and leadership.

Boo added 6-foot-8 5-star prospect Luke Cothron from North Carolina. He made three treys in the fourth quarter in one of the games and he started to play better once he got comfortable after each game. The jury is still out on 6-foot-11 sophomore Josh Manning who was the tallest player at the sportsplex but suffered an injury on the tournament's third day . He proved he can hit the outside shot from 10-feet.
Physical players like BWSL II forward D.J Covington, BWSL-16U forward Dorian Smith, and BWSL 16U forward Larry Savage all gave BWSL problems. The backcourt was strong with Dawkins, Kendall Marshall, and Dimitri Batten. In the championship game, Marshall had his best game bursting threw the lane for buckets while Batten has taken the role as defensive stopper.
Boo Williams II also gave the "A" team a scare before losing by 18. Senior Donte MoralesClick The toughest games the "A" team played came at the hands of the Boo Williams Summer League 16U team. The Elite team trailed the young stars 25-18 in the second quarter after a three from Brian Darden but talent eventually prevailed and the BWSL pulled away for a big win. Henrico's Trey Davis can do it all and he will likely lead the team in scoring. The team played their best when Darden and Simuel Frazier where both in the backcourt. Frazier has great court awareness and is more a true point guard then Darden, but Darden is the better shooter and scorer. Smith and Savage are both hard-working lunch pale type players who compliment their backcourt mates well. Jordan Burgess has great athleticism and his built like his brother Bradford who started for VCU as a freshman. Here to view this Link. scored 18 points for BWSL II who pulled to within five (45-40) in the third quarter. Morales is a big-time scorer who made two treys, a one-handed floater, and two-handed dunks. D.J Covington is a tough defender who plays football during the fall. I wouldn't call him an offensive threat but he did step out to hit a 15-foot jumper. Point Guard Anthony "Duke" Dorsey from Kecoughtan is another football player who has a strong body and great balance. He also converted two three's and finished with 10 points. Julian Norfleet is a deadly 3-point shooter and he resembles Reggie Miller with his range and frame. Besides draining three-pointers, the Landstown product also scored near the basket.
The Richmond Squires and Petersburg Elite (Suffolk) semi-final game went down to the wire with David Robinson making three free throws with two seconds remaining to give the Squires a two-point win. Robinson is a shooter who was voted the Dominion district player of the year after pouring in 23 ppg. Four-star recruit Mychal Parker is a high flyer who has spent the past year refining his backcourt skills. Parker is smooth wing who always' seems to make the right play. He had 16 points against the Stafford Hoyas.
Clearly, C.J Barksdale is one of the best young talents in the state of Virginia. Barksdale can swing between the 3 and 4 positions. He's very quick, athletic, and he's an excellent leaper who blocks shots, rebounds, has three-point range. Barksdale will join McAdoo as a top 2011 recruit. Another sophomore, 6-foot-8 Daniel Clark, can stroke it from three point land and he will get better as he gains strength and experience.
Davante Gardner had his way with most teams using his 280 pound girth to score in the low blocks. The thing about Gardner is he has beautiful form on his jump shot. He's more of a finesse player than a power guy but he knows how to use his weight to his advantage. He had to take on a larger (excuse the pun) role once teammate Jay Copeland injured his leg on the first day. While Gardner provided the inside threat, Petersburg relied on Justin Watson from behind the 3-point arc. Watson was hot from 3-point land during all three days of the tournament. At this point, he's strictly a shooter but he does that well. He needs to work on other phases of his game.

Day 2
BWSL guard Andre Dawkins put on a shooting clinic making nine three-pointers on his way to scoring 39 points in a 108-55 blowout win over the Virginia Storm Blue. BWSL is averaging 110 ppg after two games and Dawkins has scored 70 points.
