Quantico Legit

Quantico Military High School proved their undefeated start to the season was no fluke by defeating a 2015 playoff team Richmond Christian on the road by a final count of 15-6. Quantico led 13-6 at halftime and then turned the game over to their defense which recorded a safety while not letting the host Warriors cross midfield. The visitors forced four turnovers while improving to 6-0.

Quarterback Jack Kelley led Quantico Military on a 7-play, 61-yard drive which he capped off with a 1-yard touchdown run. with 5:59 to go in the 1st quarter. Senior Caleb Hall carried 12 times for 128 yards but his best run was a 75-yard touchdown run with 3:32 to go before halftime that gave the visiting Warriors a 13-0 lead.

Field Position

The key to the second half was field position and the Quantico special teams played a big factor in holding Richmond Christian scoreless after the halftime break. Jalen Williams deflected a punt attempt to give Quantico great field position and punter Enrique Ferreira kicked a ball near the endzone that Matt Bianca and Anthony Tarver downed inside the 1-yard. Ferreira and Michale Stuckey combined for the safety for a 15-6 lead.

Richmond Christian's next two possessions ended with interceptions by Victor Diaz and Kris Lofgren. Ferreira had another punt downed inside the 10-yard line forcing a quick 3-and-out. Richmond Christian had only 48 yards of offense in the second half.

Richmond Christian only points came with a minute to go before halftime. Quarterback Stephen Swiney completed passes of 26-yards and 33-yards to junior Antonio Jones before finding Jones in the middle of the Quantico defense for a 3-yard touchdown score. Jones finished with three receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Offense
Senior Caleb Hall carried 12 times for 128 yards including a 75-yard touchdown run. Hall displayed outstanding speed on the touchdown run and excellent open field vision.

Defense
Linebacker William Neil set the tone early with two sacks and four tackles for loss as Quantico took a 13-0 1st lead. Neil forced Richmond Christian to alter their blocking schemes due to the pressure he created on the edge.

Antonio Jones was my Player of the Game for Richmond. He finished with three receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown. He also had several stops on defense.
