The Maroon Tide of Galax are the big buzz on everyone's mind and how they have a chance to play for the state championship in Salem next week. In order to do that however, they have to get by the revitalized Central Lunenburg Chargers who anticipate making the same trip next week.

Saturday at 2pm the two squads battle it out in what should be an exciting match up. Both teams run the football very well when at their best which for Galax has been more often than not. Central Lunenburg plays in the toughest district in the state the James River and suffered their three losses to a team that was in the top five of the state.
Led by running back Brandon Townsend, the Chargers have worked for their victories this season. There have been a few crushing wins but for the most part Lunenburg has found a way to strive off good defensive play to continue their march toward their return to glory.
Dajour Smith and Jeron Webb are strong contributors who will have to turn things up for Central versus one of the top scoring teams in Group A football. Quarterback Graham Smith will have to put together a solid game if they want to be successful in pulling off the upset.
No matter what the offense does it will be the defense that will determine Central's success and how that can limit the Maroon Tide's opportunities. Michael Warren and his teammates have to keep the ball in their offenses hands in order to have a chance to put the home teams plans on hold for another season.
Running backs Jordan Vaughn and Donte Peoples have been explosive throughout the season. Last week they both hit the end zone 3 times a piece with a 48-9 thrashing of Honaker.
Galax's defense has been able to shut down plenty of rushing attacks this season and stopping the Charger backs will be a crucial focal point. Vaughn will have to be influential on the defensive side of the ball as well. The team can't be short sighted because Smith has the ability to stretch the field.
BOTTOMLINE:
Central Lunenburg's defense has to be able to stop the Maroon Tide's rushing attack enough that they win the time of possession battle. Galax's offense gets generated from its quick offensive line play. If the Chargers can slow things up then they will have a chance to pull off the shocker.
PREDICTION: Galax 28 Central Lunenburg 20
