Former Buckeye Mike Doss gives back
Former Ohio State Buckeye Mike Doss is spending his time before NFL training camp starts, teaching at youth football camps sponsored by NFL players.
Many of the players are former Buckeyes or former teammates of Doss when he

played safety for the Indianapolis Colts during his first four years in the
NFL.
On June 30th Doss returned to
his hometown Canton, Ohio to hold the second annual Michael J. Doss Foundation
Make a Difference Youth Football Camp, with Heisman Trophy winner Troy
Smith in attendence.
The camp, held at Fawcett Stadium,
the site of the Pro Football
Hall of Fame game, was free to
campers who ranged in age from 8-12 years old.
One week later, Doss was in Newport News
Virginia as a guest of Washington Redskins cornerback David
Macklin, and his 27

football camp. It
was the third year at the camp for Doss, who said he wanted to give the kids a
fresh face they are not use to
seeing.
"It's an opportunity to help a young kid who has never seen an NFL player,"
Doss told VirginiaPreps. "Not just
in my community, but in every community. That's why I'm here."

Doss also participated in New Orleans Saints cornerback
Jason David's
Camp in Los
Angeles. "I'm
just trying to do my part and give back," said Doss. "The kids are our
future. This
is how we can give
back."
Doss,
one of the few athletes with both a National Championship ring and a Superbowl
Champion ring, signed a contract to play for the Minnesota Vikings in 2007. The
five-year veteran has 254 career tackles and seven career interceptions.
