Colonial Forge has announced the hiring of Anthony Mills as its new Head Boys Basketball Coach. His hiring was approved by the Stafford County School Board on Tuesday night.

Mills replaces Drew Miller, who went 20-25 in two seasons pacing the sidelines for the Eagles. Prior to that, Colonial Forge was led by Jason John, now the Head Basketball Coach at Colgan High School. John was 90-37 during his five-year tenure, highlighted by back-to-back state titles in 2014 and 2015.

Prior to coming to Colonial Forge, Mills was the Head Boys Basketball Coach at King George High School for one seasons. He went 77-26 in his time as the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Battlefield, where the Bobcats fell to eventual State Champ Colonial Forge, 54-35, in the State Tournament semifinals in 2017.

As a player, Mills helped Potomac reach the State Championship game in 2004, where the Panthers finshed 29-1 overall and fell to Woodside, 77-73, in the title game. The next season, they went 27-1 overall and fell to Landstown in overtime, 75-67, in the State Tournament quarterfinals.

From 2005-08, Mills played Division II College Basketball at Virginia Union. He has over nine years of coaching experience, which includes on the AAU circuit and as an assistant coach.

"We want to be a hard-nosed defensive team that plays with a lot of energy and excitement," Mills commented in the press release. "My number one goal is to build a healthy relationship with players on and off the court. It's not always going to be about basketball. Academics, family and basketball."
