The Hanover Hawks won the 4A Region East championship with a dominating performance over two schools from the Bay Rivers District.
One day after defeating Lafayette, Hanover traveled to Jamestown and pitched an 11-0 shutout over the Eagles. Three Hanover pitchers combined for a 3-hit shutout.
The Hawks scored two in the 2nd, four runs in the 3rd, two in the 4th inning and three in the 5th to go ahead 11-0. Greg Lyttle, Hayden Moore, and Jacob Weis all had RBI singles in the 3rd inning when Hanover took a 6-0 lead. John Gregory drove in three runs with an infield grounder and a 2-out single in the 5th inning.
On Friday night, the Hawks survived two rain delays to defeat Lafayette 14-3. John Gregory drove in two runs with two hits while both Nolan Caler and Haydan Moore also drove in two runs each. Hunter Marshall finished with four RBI drove in four runs.
On the mound, Moore struck out 14 batters while allowing six hits and three earned runs. He gave up a 2-run homerun in the 1st inning to Luc Lipcius but he did not allow another run until the 6th inning.
