H.S. Sports Talk Reply on ESPN Radio 94.1 - 9-17-16 Show

Grafton's Tavaris Noel, who recently committed to Princeton, was among the guests on Sept. 17 (Matthew Hatfield)

High School Sports Talk Presented by VirginiaPreps.com airs each and every Saturday from 10 AM EST to Noon on ESPN Radio 94.1, hosted by Matthew Hatfield and Coach Ed Young.

Lynn Burke - filling in for Ed - and Matt began the program by running down the scoreboard from Thursday and Friday night's games around the '757' area code.

Interviews with Lafayette's Andy Linn (which can be watched here) and Hampton's Mike Smith (which can be watched here) were played during the subsequent segment. Both Lafayette and Hampton were among the winners in spotlight games this past week.

Grafton defensive back Tavaris Noel, who recently made his college commitment to Princeton, came on to talk about that selection and the 2-0 start for the Clippers as they prepared for a matchup with Bruton that they would go on to win Saturday night.

In the 11 AM hour, coaches from two teams that pulled 'upsets' called in to talk about the success they enjoyed on Friday night. First, it was Tallwood's John Kepple, chatting about the Lions upending previously undefeated Bayside 21-14. Deep Creek's Calvin Copeland also discussed how the Hornets improved to 2-1 for the first time since 2007 with a 36-14 victory over Nansemond River.

Last but not least, Lynn and Matt glanced ahead at next week's schedule with some interesting games that include Norview hosting Lake Taylor, Grassfield visiting Indian River, Cox tangling with Landstown in a battle of unbeatens, and Bethel facing Heritage.
