Former Virginia Wesleyan two-time All-American Lonnie Blow is on the move again. After spending last season as an assistant with the Hampton University Pirates basketball team, Blow now will be an assistant coach at Norfolk State University. Prior to taking the job at Hampton U, Blow was the Head Coach at Granby High School, where he guided the Comets to a 184-61 record and a Group AAA State Championship in 2000. Blow's Granby teams won six Eastern District titles during his tenure and reached the state semis in 2001. He also spent 11 years as an assistant coach to Jack Baker at Maury High School. Baker coached Blow's son, K.D., this past season at Maury.
Mount Olive College, a Division II program in North Carolina, nabbed yet another Eastern Region player, their third this off-season. Former Granby guard Kendrick Easley, the 2004-05 VirginiaPreps.com Eastern District Player-of-the-Year, is headed to Mount Olive after playing last season for Brewster Academy. The 6-foot-1 Easley, who graduated from Granby in '05, helped guide the school in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire to a 19-9 record. While at Granby, Easley was selected to the AAA All-State 2nd team, averaging 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals per game as a senior. Easley is the son of former Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl safety Ken Easley.
Back in May, Mount Olive signed two other Hampton Roads basketball players in Tallwood's Mike Holloman and Booker T. Washington's Brandon Plummer, who squared off against one another in the Eastern Region Tournament title game. Last season Mount Olive went 25-7, posting their third 20-win year in a row. And guess what else? They may not be done recruiting in the Tidewater area. Maury's Shawn Washum, who was an All-Eastern District 2nd Team selection as a junior and picked on the All-Eastern District 1st Team as a senior, will likely either choose to go to Mount Olive or go the route of junior college.
Princess Anne Coach Steps Down:
Kenny Edwards has stepped down as the Head Basketball Coach of Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, VA, citing "family reasons" for his resignation. In his 19-year coaching career, Edwards has gone 258-136, earning three Coach of the Year awards. He's also won three regular season Beach District titles and a Beach District Tournament title in 14 seasons as a Head Coach in the city.
"I feel like I have to make a commitment to my family," notes Edwards, whose been mentioned in 14 different magazine articles published nationally on basketball coaching. "I still have a burning desire to coach and I will definitely get back into it once I take care of this family situation."

Kellam Finds Replacement For Zecchini:
At the conclusion of the 2005-06 basketball season, Ken Zecchini stepped down as the Head Basketball Coach at Kellam High School. Over the past three seasons, Zecchini went 44-28, but half of those losses came this past season as the Knights failed to qualify for the Beach District Tournament. Two seasons before that they won the first ever Beach District Tournament in school history.
In steps Norman Hassell, an assistant for both the varsity football and basketball teams. Athletic Director Jim Moxey reports that Hassell has been named the new Head Basketball Coach for the Knights, who despite last year's 5-13 record in league play (14-6 combined in the two seasons leading up to '05-06), aren't totally unfamiliar with success on the hardwood. In 2000-01 they made their first ever Eastern Region Tournament appearance and the following season they defeated Maury in the region playoffs.
