Analysis on each team, predictions and more!
The 2008 season marked the first time since
2000 that a Dulles District team advanced to the state championship in either
division, and the Broad Run Spartans made the most of their opportunity with a
13-0 victory over Amherst County that gave the Spartans their first ever state
football championship. The rest of the Dulles District looks to knock Broad Run
off their perch as back-to-back district champions in 2009. Briar Woods, Potomac
Falls and Loudoun County are coming off of playoff appearances last season,
while perennial contenders Park View look to rebound from an uncharacteristic
3-7 season. Dominion may have the most exciting player in the district, but have
not achieved much success in its short history, while Freedom turns the reins of
its program over to a longtime Dulles District assistant coach eager to lead the
Eagles out of the bottom half of the district.

POSITIONS OF STRENGTH
Coach Todd Hill took the Raiders to the playoffs in just his second year at the
helm, and just two year's removed from an 0-10 campaign. This year's squad
returns a number of key contributors from last season. On offense, the Raiders
should be able to mix in a good balance of runs and passes, with tailback
Adam Yesuf featuring prominently. Virginia Tech commit Chase Williams
and speedy wideout Mike Ayoub give the passing game two good targets.
Defensively, coach Hill tells VirginiaPreps.com that the front 8 will be very
deep, which should allow the Raiders to mix and match personnel as needed.
QUESTION MARKS
The Loudoun County offense must break in a new quarterback to replace the
multi-talented Joe Bushrod. Austin Campbell appears to be the odds-on
favorite to take the starting job and it will be incumbent upon the offensive
line, with returning all-district performer Teddy Orrison to give him
plenty of time to get his confidence. The defensive backfield lost several
starters from last season and will be inexperienced, but athletic, according to
coach Hill.
