Jamestown Eagles (1-1) @ Smithfield
Packers (2-0)

The Packers will be well rested for their home opener against Jamestown.
Smithfield will have seven days since they beat Lafayette while Jamestown will
have only three days to get ready for Smithfield. The Packers have the speed
to stay with All-Region receiver Greg Farrell (pictured) who had a 72-yard
touchdown against Bruton. Smithfield will rely on junior RB Montrell
Johnson to lead their offense. Jamestown has had problems matching up with
Smithfield losing by a 44-15 margin the last four years and I expect those
troubles to continue on Friday.
Prediction: Smithfield 26 Jamestown 7
Tabb Tigers (2-0) @ New Kent Trojans (1-1)
The Tigers hit the road for the first time on Friday to face a New Kent team
that turned the ball over eight times in a loss to Bruton. Tabb has a big game
against Smithfield next week, and can't look past the Trojans who won their
home opener. Both Sean Case (pictured) and Jeff Shurott threw touchdown
passes against Southampton. Last year, this game was only 3-0 after three
quarters before New Kent ran out of gas in the final 12 minutes.
Prediction: Tabb 29 New Kent 16
Poquoson Bull Islanders (1-1) @ Lafayette
Rams (0-2)
The districts two playoff representatives are a combined 1-3 to start the
year. Poquoson kept Warhill winless with a 20-6 win on this same field last
week. Four turnovers, including one inside the twenty was more than
Lafayette's anemic offense could overcome. The Rams need a jumpstart from
tackle Andrew Marcotte and the rest of the Lafayette offensive line to
get into the win column.
Prediction: Lafayette 17 Poquoson 7
Bruton Panthers (1-0) @ Grafton Clippers
(1-1)
Bruton comes with a lot of confidence after throttling New Kent for five
touchdowns in their win on Monday. Panthers QB Greg Walker had a big
day throwing two touchdown passes to Lorenzo Taliaferro. Grafton found
their rhythm thanks to generous Jamestown team that turned he ball over four
times in Grafton territory. Five different Clippers scored touchdowns led by
Austin Sneath (pictured) with two.
Prediction: Grafton 27 Bruton 7
Franklin Broncos (1-0) @ Southampton
Indians (0-1)
Annual matchup between Single A power Franklin and Southampton resumes at
Southampton's home field. The Broncos won last year's game and they
defeated Northampton 50-0 last week. Southampton fell to Tabb 35-0 but they
should play better in this contest on their home turf and minus the long
drive. Still, I see the Broncos winning by two touchdowns.
Prediction: Franklin 28 Southampton 14
Warhill Lions (0-1) @ York Falcons (0-1)
York struggle in their season opener against New Kent getting shutout 28-0.
The Falcons lost starting QB Aaron Edwards (pictured) before the season to a knee
injury. Warhill has QB problems of their own (Zach Osgood out for the
year) and they only scored one touchdown against Poquoson despite recovering
three fumbles inside the Poquoson 40-yard line. The Falcons had an extra week
to get ready and that should give them the advantage here.
Prediction: York 28 Warhill 14
