Behind a career-high 28 points from 6-foot-1 junior guard Curtis 'Q' Stephens, the Wildcats under the direction of second-year Head Coach Kenny Murphy completed an undefeated dream season with an 84-58 thumping of a Bruton team that came in having beaten its opponents by more than 30 points a contest.
Led by the dynamic senior backcourt duo of Marcus Carter and Lonnie Swinton, the Panthers won their first regional title since 1978 and made it to the State Championship game, where they were beaten by undefeated Dan River, 84-58 in a game where they got out-rebounded 56-38.
With losses to Bruton by 18 in the 2A-East Region Championship and to unbeaten Dan River by 21 in the State Semis, the Bulldogs' reign as three-time defending State Champs came to an end in what was a fine year one for new Head Coach Ronald Thornhill.
Although they held Bruton without a field goal for the first 14:29 of the first half, Jeff Adkins' Bulldogs were eliminated by the Panthers in the State Final Four, 56-36 at ODU.

After winning the Conference 40 Tournament, Gate City beat Richlands 77-54 to open regional play before losing in the semifinals to Martinsville, 69-47.

Despite 20 points from Amonte Vaughan and 19 from Malik Dabney, the Eagles couldn't overtake a very talented Bruton squad in the regional semifinals, falling 79-69 in overtime.
Anchored by 2A-West All-Region First Team selection Noah Walker, the Bearcats won their first eight games and made it to the regional semifinals, where Dan River rolled past them to the tune of 68-42.

Led by seniors Damian Winbush (11.4PPG) and Devin Roberts (10.1PPG, 7.5RPG), the Barons made it to the regional semifinals before being ousted by reigning three-time State Champ Brunswick, 73-59.

Senior guard Caleb Tanner graduated as the VHSL's all-time leading scorer in what was a memorable season for a Buffaloes team that got knocked out in the opening round of regionals by undefeated Dan River.
Champions of Conference 39, the G-Men saw a stellar season end in a 78-62 loss to Conference 40 runner-up Virginia High in the 2A-West Region Tournament quarterfinals.
