Behind solid defense that limited last year's AAA Champ Henrico to 24.1% in the title game, the Panthers won their first State Championship since 1995 with a 54-42 win over the Warriors at VCU's Siegel Center.
After winning their first regional title since 2003, the Commodores saw their tremendous season end in the State Semis at ODU when they were beaten by Potomac, 55-52.
With only one returning starter from their 2013 State Championship winning team in sophomore and Conference 11 Player of the Year De'Monte Buckingham, the Warriors made it all the way back to the State Championship, falling to Potomac by a count of 54-42.
The only team to beat Potomac this season, Coach Tony Bentley's Warriors won their first regional title since 2005 and for the second straight year got to the State Semis, where they were eliminated by Henrico, 63-55.
5Green RunVirginia BeachVA22-56
Though they would be eliminated in the regional semifinals by a Maury team that handed them there of their losses, the Stallions recorded their first 20-plus win season since 1995 while also notching their first regional playoff victory in 10 years.

While the Skyhawks won their conference tournament and put two players on the 5A-South All-Region First Team with juniors Kenny Williams and C.J. Miles, Bird was eliminated in the regional semifinals for the second straight year by Henrico, 58-57.
7Deep RunGlen AllenVA20-33
Curt Kassab's Wildcats won 18 in a row at one point with their only losses coming to the likes of John Marshall, L.C. Bird and Henrico - a trio that combined to go 63-17 overall.
8Broad RunAshburnVA20-4NR
Seniors Khiorie Stewart (20.9PPG) and Travis Fulgham (17.4PPG) led a Spartans team that recorded three overtime wins and got all the way to the regional semifinals, falling to Wakefield by a count of 85-80.
9MenchvilleNewport NewsVA18-7NR
After winning their third conference or district postseason tournament in four seasons under Coach Dennis Koutoufas, the Monarchs were eliminated in the opening round of the 5A-South Region Tournament by Conference 9 Tournament Champion Green Run, 50-43.

A fine season for Terry Henderson's Eagles ended prematurely in an 81-74 overtime loss to #7 seed Mount Vernon in the Capitol Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
