Video - Oscar Smith's Shon Mitchell & Branden Delbridge after 21-7 win

The Oscar Smith Tigers have now won 87 consecutive Southeastern District regular season contests after defeating Chesapeake rival Indian River by a count of 21-7 on Friday night at Hickory High School. Seniors Shon Mitchell and Branden Delbridge were at the forefront of another win, the team's fifth in a row by double-figures since a loss to DeMatha in their opener.

Mitchell closed the first half by completing nine of his final ten pass attempts, including a 25-yard scoring strike to Kenny Etheridge. Four different receivers caught at least four passes for the Tigers in Etheridge (5Rec. 76Yds.), Khalik Perry (7Rec. 25Yds.), Cam'Ron Kelly (4Rec. 47Yds.) and Deangelo White (5Rec. 56Yds.).

Committed to play his College Football in-state at William & Mary, Mitchell connected on 21 of 35 passes for 204 yards.

Delbridge, an All-State performer a season ago like Mitchell, had four tackles and three pass breakups. He was part of another stellar defensive performance by the Tigers, who have given up just 21 points in their five district contests this year. They held Indian River, an offense that came in averaging 30.5 points per game, to just one score and 144 total yards on 51 plays.

Both teams battled in a scoreless half on slippery field conditions. Oscar Smith is now 5-1 overall and will visit Western Branch (3-3) in its district matchup. Meanwhile, Indian River dropped to 3-3 overall, 3-2 in Southeastern District play as they get ready to host Deep Creek (2-4).
