defensive back Trenton Hughes. VirginiaPreps.com tried to contact
Hughes for some feedback, but he was already on his way to to the NC State team
camp. Hughes is a
Hughes'
father, Tony Hughes did say that the Tech camp "was a great experience, I
feel they are going to give him a written offer along with the verbal offer.
Coach Newsome told us to expect something in the mail this week."
When asked how the younger Hughes rated Tech among the schools that he is
considering Mr. Hughes stated "Virginia Tech and Maryland are both rating a
10 with Trenton. He still wants to get back to NC State, and take a visit to
East Carolina. He would also like to visit Tennessee and South Carolina as both
of those schools have made verbal offers. But his experiences at Maryland and
Virginia Tech have him (Trenton) thinking of making a decision before the season
starts."
Mr. Hughes went on to explain that following
the Maryland visit that Trenton was very impressed and really like the
surrounding (suburban) area and could see himself fitting in well there.
"What was surprising", Mr. Hughes continued "was that he
(Trenton) liked the Virginia Tech area just as well even though it is more rural
than Maryland. I think Trenton feels he would be comfortable on either
campus."
UPDATE - VirginiaPreps.com was able to
talk with Trenton Hughes Tuesday night at the NC State football camp, and Hughes
provided updates on his experiences at the Virginia Tech camp last Saturday,
including match-ups with recent Virginia Tech commit Patrick Terry, and
two other Tech targets Davon Morgan (Varina High School) and Tyrod
Taylor (Hampton High School).  Hughes also commented on both his and
Kempsville's experiences so far at the NC State 'team' camp, including an
individual match-up with Episcopal's Danny Coale - another Virginia
Tech recruiting target.  Hughes also detailed his timeline for selecting a
