asked Rod to pick out the Top Five Sleepers from the Class of 2012.
Who
is Rod Johnson and why is he such an authority on these topics?  Rod joined
the VirginiaPreps staff in 2002 when he moved to the Tidewater area from Ohio
that year. He began as a staff writer before rising to his current level as the
site's senior football editor where he has been responsible for coverage of
recruiting, game recaps, rankings, and general interest stories from around the
Commonwealth.  Rod attends camps, combines, practices and games at various
venues all around the state and region.  He talks to college and high
school coaches on a regular basis and probably views more film on high school
prospects from Virginia than anyone else.
Top 5 Uncommitted outside of Top 25 :
1)
Romond DeLoatch, Phoebus:  No one doubts DeLoatch as a big time
prospect, and he scored a 89.37 SPARQ score this spring.  College coaches
say he may need to improve his scores in the classroom in order to qualify
immediately.   Marshall and Temple have already offered and a number
of other schools appear to be close.  He has indicated that visits to
Florida State and East Carolina are coming up. The 6-foot-4, 213-pound wide
receiver makes for an excellent target at wide receiver and he should be able to
put up some gaudy stats this fall for the Phoebus Phantoms, who are once again
ranked among the
State's top
teams.
