few brief recruiting notes from the Super Showcase event, which preceded the
Boys (17U) national Tournament in Orlando.

       Kevin Cates is a fine
mobile 6' 9", 215 athlete who attends Marion HS in Indiana. Strong shot blocker,
intense, runs the court very well.....He is hearing the most now from Butler,
Xavier (Oh), Ball St, Ind St, Purdue, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio
St......He has offers from Butler, Ball St, Xavier (Oh) and Indiana St.......He
has made unofficial visits to Ind St, Ball St, Xavier, Purdue, Ill and
Iowa......He intends on making a decision at the end of
August......

Fabian Davis is a 6' 6" wing forward who played for
the Durham Disciples and plays during the high school season at Bonner Academy
in Durham NC......Fabian has steadily improved his perimeter game throughout the
spring and summer.....He is intense, plays with confidence and has become a
solid shooter from the perimeter.....he is currently hearing the most from
UMass, Clemson, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, UConn and Tennessee
Tech.......He has no offers as yet.....has not made any unofficial visits.....He
plans on deciding during January of his senior season......

      David
Noel is part of the wing tandem on the Durham Disciple team with Fabian
Davis
and plays his high school ball at  Bonner Academy in Durham as well.......David
is a 6' 5" wing player and in my estimation is as under-rated as any player in
the country.......tough, hard-nosed, plays with a passion, intensity is
excellent, very fine passer, shoots it fairly well and drives strongly to the
rack......He isn't getting much attention, certainly not of the kind his game
merits.....Currently he is hearing the most from UVa......he is also a very
highly rated football player and perhaps therein lies the rub......maybe it is
thought that he will pursue that option in college......David said it was his
intention to play basketball in college but he would go football if that was the
course he needed to take.......he has made no unofficial visits yet......he has
offers from UVa (FB)and Clemson in basketball and from Duke and NC St in
football......he expects to make a decision at the end of the football season,
just prior to basketball season......

     Jermaine Thomas is a 6' 3"
point guard who played for the Baltimore Blue in Orlando......West Virginia,
Wake Forest, LaSalle and Georgia Tech are in contact with him the most.......he
has made unofficials to Wake, WVU and Richmond.....he has offers from LaSalle
and Richmond......Wake, WVU, Richmond and LaSalle are his current
favorites......He will take all 5 official visits before making a
decision......

     Akin Akingbala - a 6' 9" post player/forward will
attend school next year at Brewster Academy in the Northeast......Matt Doherty
was seen checking out Akin at the 17U National tournament, as were a host of
other high-major schools as Akin was one of the kids who created a buzz during
the tournament with his play.......He is currently hearing from most of the ACC,
Georgia Tech and Clemson in particular, as well as Pitt and Boston
University.....he has offers from Clemson, Boston U, Pitt and Georgia
Tech........he has unofficially visited Boston U and will decide after his high
school season..........

Chris Ellis - Chris is another post player
who is seeing his recruiting level intensify as the summer winds down......he
mentioned Stanford, Ohio St, Wisconsin, Georgia, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech,
Clemson, Notre Dame, Fla St and Alabama as those schools he is hearing from
most........he has offers from Wake, Notre Dame and Georgia..........he has
unofficially toured Georgia and is unsure when he will make a decision.....
