Norview Duo Looks to Lead Turnaround

The Norview Pilots [Norfolk,
Va] struggled through a 1-9 season in 2005, but have hopes on turning their
Advertisement
program around this season as they have a couple of top notch rising seniors on
which to build a foundation in Delonte Epps [5-foot-8, 165] and Tolbert Matthews
[6-foot-2, 235], both of whom VirginiaPreps.com caught up with at the recent
Eastern District Combine held at Lake Taylor High School in early May.
As
a junior in 2005, Epps caught 28 passes for 600 yards and six touchdowns which
earned him a spot on the All-Eastern District Second Team.
On defense, he made six interceptions and was honorable mention
all-district on that side of the ball.
Matthews put up big numbers
last season for Norview, racking up 132 tackles, 17 sacks, 12 forced fumbles,
two interceptions and three defensive touchdowns en route to being named first
team All-Eastern District at linebacker while also being named as the district's
second team tight end.

Rod Johnson has covered
the Eastern Region football scene for the past three seasons. During the
offseason, look for intermittent recruiting reports, player profiles and general
interests stories from him as he keeps in touch with the area coaches about the
