style='text-decoration:none;text-underline:none'> Trotman patiently
stayed the course and waited things out during the recruiting process.
style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  No offers came in before his senior season,
but a few months after, an in-state program at the FCS level decided to pull
the trigger.  The Virginia Beach product wasted
no time in making his mind up once they did.
"Verdana",sans-serif'>Three days after receiving a scholarship offer from them,
Trotman gave a verbal commitment to play his College Football for the

first-year Head Coach Scott
class=SpellE>Wachenheim.
"Verdana",sans-serif'>"What made me choose VMI was that they had the best to
offer in terms of [scholarship] money, academics and most importantly how they
would benefit me after college," Trotman told VirginiaPreps.com.

comes to VMI after spending the past five seasons as an assistant at the
University of Virginia and before that three years at Liberty (2006-08).
style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  He brought on board
normal'>Tom Clark to serve as defensive coordinator and coach the defensive
backs.  Clark got a chance to get a
closer look at Trotman when he camped at Williams & Mary last summer.
"Verdana",sans-serif'>"The coaches said they loved my film and that I'm a
little over 150 pounds, but you couldn't tell until you got in a room with me
because I played bigger than what I am.
They also liked my speed.  I went
to William & Mary's camp over the summer while Coach Clark was there and he
saw me run a 40-yard dash where I was running a 4.48 consistently," added
Trotman.
"Verdana",sans-serif'>"I think I can bring my speed, explosiveness, ball skills
and swagger to the program that could bring them a boost in the secondary."
"Verdana",sans-serif'>Trotman held offers from Glenville State and West Virginia
State, plus received interest from a host of NAIA programs and Division III
schools.
"Verdana",sans-serif'>Last season for a Landstown
team that finished 4-6 overall, highlighted by a 22-21 upset of 5A-South Region
runner-up Salem.  Trotman played a significant
role as a senior for the Eagles, going on to register 63 tackles, six for loss,
six pass breakups, three forced fumbles, three interceptions with one being
returned for a touchdown and a sack.  In
his first year of playing extensively on offense, he had seven catches for 243
yards and a touchdown.
"Verdana",sans-serif'>VMI is looking for its first winning season since 1981
when they finished 6-3 overall.  Only
twice since then have they finished at the .500 mark, going 6-6 in both 2002
and 2003.  Wachenheim
replaces Sparky Woods, who went just 17-62 in seven seasons with the

"Verdana",sans-serif'>Currently sitting at GPA of 2.9, Trotman looks to major
in Psychology at VMI.  His commitment to
the Keydets can be made official in pep and paper on
National Signing Day, which is February 4th.
Still, that hasn't stopped him from planning ahead, even beyond playing
the game of football.
"Verdana",sans-serif'>"I hope to accomplish future accolades.
style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  Although I'm at a smaller Division I school,
I won't stop chasing the dream and that's the NFL," Trotman noted.
style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  "If not, then I want to be a coach when I get
out of school and maybe a graduate assistant somewhere."
