High School Sports Talk Replay - 11-4-17
High School Sports Talk Presented by VirginiaPreps.com airs each and every Saturday from 10 AM EST to Noon on ESPN Radio 94.1, hosted by Matthew Hatfield and Coach Ed Young.
To open the show, Matt and Ed went around the region with the scoreboard results from the previous night's action. It was the final week of the regular season, so several teams locked up playoff berths, while a select few others saw their 2017 campaign come to an end.
At the 29:25 mark of the show, an interview with King's Fork QB Justin German and WR Cherrod Joe - who teamed up for the eventual game-winning touchdown in a 29-23 win over Oscar Smith - was played back.
Landstown Head Football Coach Tommy Reamon joined the show at the 36:00 mark to discuss the Eagles 10-0 undefeated regular season by beating Cox 34-28. It was the first victory over Cox since 2010 and the program's first unbeaten regular season in 12 years. Brent Stukes threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns, plus ran for a score, while UVA commit Joseph White caught five balls for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
An interview with King's Fork Head Football Coach Scottie Littles was played back at the 56:30 mark of the show. His Bulldogs snapped the 99-game Southeastern District winning streak of Oscar Smith and secured a #1 seed for Class 4, Region A playoffs.
Around the 1:08:00 mark of the program, second-year Ocean Lakes Head Football Coach Joe Jones stopped by to talk about the Dolphins 9-1 record as they closed out on a bye week before a first round playoff matchup against #7 seed Granby in the Class 6, Region A playoffs.
To end the program, Matt and Ed along with producer Thomas Simmons and the intern Quiara Galson glanced ahead at the regional playoff matchups in Tidewater with some quick postseason prognostications.
