No Head Coach has won more football games in VHSL history than Hampton's Mike Smith (Matthew Hatfield)

High School Sports Talk Presented by VirginiaPreps.com airs each and every Saturday from 10 AM EST to Noon on ESPN Radio 94.1, hosted by Matthew Hatfield and Coach Ed Young.

Joining the guys to start the show was Lakeland Head Basketball Coach Clint Wright, chatting about the Old School Classic taking place in Suffolk with some of the city's past basketball standouts reliving the past by gathering for some head-to-head competition.

Matt and Ed discussed the new members going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including Oscar Smith grad Kenny Easley (listen to the archived in studio interview from August 2015 here). Easley, who starred at safety for the Seattle Seahawks during the 1980's, was inducted alongside the likes of Jason Taylor, Morten Andersen, LaDainian Tomlinson, Terrell Davis, Jerry Jones and Kurt Warner.

Another Hall of Famer of a different kind came on live during the program and that was Hampton Head Football Coach Mike Smith. A man with more wins and state titles (12) than anyone else in Virginia High School League history, Smith is in both the VHSL Hall of Fame and Hampton Roads Sports Hall of Fame.

Princess Anne Head Football Coach Jelani Fair stopped by to chat about the 2017 season outlook for the Cavaliers as well as the recent commit to Maryland of standout Darryl Jones. Recently highlighted prospects here on the site, Amelio Moran and Azaiyah Roberts, were also discussed during the segment.

Indian River Head Football Coach Glenwood Ferebee, a former standout quarterback back in the 1990's for Green Run High School before going on to play College Football at Liberty, chatted about the prospects for the Braves this year as they begin life without Devon Hunter, who's competing for a starting spot as a freshman at Virginia Tech. Junior defensive lineman Ben Smiley is the next household name for the Chesapeake program.
