Game Highlights - Green Run Tops Salem in Region 5A Hoops Finals

Highlights courtesy of Dan Trevino for VirginiaPreps.com of Green Run's 88-68 victory over Salem of Virginia Beach in the Region 5A Hoops Championship on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach.

Senior shooting guard Elijah Kennedy poured in 36 points - 28 after half-time - as the Stallions pulled away. Kennedy was 12-of-19 from the field and 6-for-11 from three-point land. Four of those makes from behind the arc came in the third period. He also had 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

Kennedy's backcourt mate, senior point guard Jacob Cooper, posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 assists to go with a couple of steals.

Green Run - which moved to 8-0 overall with the victory - out-rebounded Salem 38-22 in the contest, plus the Stallions shot 35-of-60 from the field and had 20 assists.

For Salem in defeat, the Sun Devils were led by Bryce Shaw's 23 points. Shaw was 10-of-12 from the foul line and also had 5 rebounds as well as 3 assists. Two others - Joshua Stephen (16Pts. 4Ast.) and Donovan Ward (12Pts.) - scored in double-figures for a Sun Devils squad that wrapped up its season 4-3 overall.
