Briar Woods has grown accustomed to playing at Liberty University in December. The Falcons had an easy time in winning their third straight VHSL D4 state Championship defeating Heritage-Lynchburg with a resounding 52-0 blowout win.

The outcome was never in doubt. Briar Woods completely dominated the Region III champion. Heritage didn't complete their first pass until the third quarter and they were held to 101 total yards with 44 of that came via a flea-flicker in the final moments of the game. The Pioneers other two first downs came via a 1st quarter pass interference and a 24-yard run by quarterback JeVontae Parrish.

The Briar Woods defense set the tone early in the game and they put the first points on the scoreboard. Parrish faked a handoff and tried to roll out but he was caught in the backfield by J.T Logan was called for intentional grounding when he was tackled in the endzone.

Briar Woods took over on the the Heritage 45-yard line after the ensuing point and marched 45-yards for the games first touchdown. Quarterback Trace McSorley followed a block by Nick Merletti for a 1-yard touchdown and the Falcons led 9-0 after one quarter of play.

Starting in the second quarter, the Falcons fed the Heritage defense a steady diet of Cory Colder and the senior responded with six straight runs for 26 yards. They made it all the way down to the Heritage 3-yard line but in one of the few bright spots for the Pioneers, Colder was stopped on 4th-and goal. Trapped inside their 5-yard line, Heritage got a 58-yard punt from I'Shanti Rosser. Tristan Miller fielded a punt at his own 37-yard line, picked up steam, and headed toward the sideline. A great block by Logan sprung Miller for the final 35 yards and he sprinted in to the endzone to give Briar Woods a 17-0 lead after a Colder 2-point run.

The Falcons added two touchdowns in the third quarter to seal the rout and start the running clock. Chris Larco scored from 12-yards out and McSorley scored his second touchdown on a 25-yard scamper. Colder's final carry of his high school career resulted in a touchdown to make the score 45-0 and Logan finished off the scoring with a 73-yard touchdown run. Briar Woods finished with 452 yards of total offense.
