6-foot-0, 205-pounder from Chesapeake (Va.) Deep Creek High School - and will be
a future University of North Carolina Tar Heel - after committing to the Heels
during a visit to Chapel Hill this past weekend.
As a junior, Carey was the Southeastern District
Offensive Player of Year and a second-team all-region selection,  and he
averaged over 9 yards a carry and a touchdown every 6 times he touched the ball.   Another
2002 football highlight was scoring 5 touchdowns in one game - setting a school
record.
Carey was hampered somewhat this season by a foot
injury, but was still a key performer for the Deep Creek Hornets, appearing in
only four games.  Antwain has accumulated over 2,000 career rushing yards
and over 30 TDs during his high school career.   While his football
accomplishments are many Carey is also a well recognized track performer, having
been a part of a national record setting 800mm relay team last winter.  He
also ran a 11.01 100m at the Virginia Outdoor Captain's Classic, the runner-up
in that event.  He finished in the top 10 in the 2001 AAA State Meet in the
55m competition, posting a 6.54 time.
Carey chose UNC over an offer from Virginia Tech
and NC State.
