Blue Ridge Routs Miller School to Win VISAA D2 Championship
Blue Ridge ended the 1st half with a 13-0 run and coasted to an easy 73-36 win over the Miller school to claim their 2nd State championship in the past three years.
Blue Ridge had defeated Miller School in all four meetings this year and after spotting Deshaun Wade a three they took control the rest of the game. They led by only five points (18-13) early in the 2nd quarter but outscored Miller School 20-2 the rest of the 1st half and they led 38-15 at halftime.
Things didnt get any better for Miller School in the second half and their deficit reached 33 early in the 4th quarter.
The Barons received double-figure scoring from three starters with Josh Colon leading the way with 17 points, four steals and three assists. Clemson commit Aamir Simms added 16 points with six rebounds and three blocks while Sadrdaar Calhoun chipped in 13 points. Darius McGhee filled the stat sheet with seven points, five steals, four assists and four rebounds.
