"Verdana","sans-serif"'>The NFL's Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys weren't the
only ones playing some Monday Night Football.
Over in Virginia Beach, the Bayside Marlins played host to the
class=SpellE>Landstown Eagles in a matchup that was postponed from
Friday.
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>Bayside shook off a sluggish start where they led only
7-6 at the half en route to a 22-6 victory over the Eagles.
style=> The win improved the Marlins' record to 4-2
overall and in the district.
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>Sloppy would be the word to best sum up this matchup as
the two teams combined for 25 penalties for 165 yards.
style=>
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>In the end, the Marlins had too much firepower, headlined
by the trio of senior quarterback Deion
class=SpellE>Stitt, five-star running back and UVA commit
class=SpellE>Taquan
style='mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'> 'Smoke' Mizzell and
junior WR/DB Quin
style='mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'> Blanding, a future five-star prospect
from the Class of 2014. Bayside went on
to out-gain Landstown 366-136, including 272-47 over
the game's final two quarters.
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>"It's really tough because you don't know how much kids
maintain from the game-plan that they ere ready to execute on Friday.
style=> We had to go over some things and remind them
of some things," noted Bayside Head Football Coach Darnell Moore.
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>"It took us a little while to get going.
style=> I think they got in a groove in the second
half and we were able to do a few things that we said we wanted to be able to
do."
115%;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>Mizzell
style='font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>
rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown on the Marlins' opening drive, but went
into half-time with that exact total on 11 carries.
style=> In the second half, he heated up with 82
yards to get to 122 yards on 27 attempts for the night with three rushing
touchdowns.
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>It would've been 4TD's and 173 yards for Smoke if not
for a holding penalty that brought back an incredible run where he shook more
than a couple of Landstown defenders.
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>"Sometimes we start off kind of slow, and then we get
that half-time speech and start to pick it up," Mizzell
stated afterwards.
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>"Basically, everything from here on out everything is a
playoff game. Our playoff games started
last week. We've already taken two hard
losses already and we don't want to lose anymore.
style=> We're trying to make noise right now and in
the playoffs."

font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>Stitt

passes for 192 yards without an interception.
Blanding hauled in five of those passes for 107 yards while making six
tackles, a pass breakup and returning an interception 30 yards on defense.
"Verdana","sans-serif"'>Next up for the Marlins is a Friday night matchup at
class=SpellE>Kellam, which is 4-1 overall.
style=> Landstown will host
fellow 2-3 Beach District member First Colonial on Friday.
