Atlantic Shores Runs Past Hampton Christian

Atlantic Shores rolled to an easy 71-54 win over Metro Conference rival Hampton Christian. The Seahawks had 11 different players score at-least two points as they led by double digits for most of the game.

We love having that depth," Atlantic Shores coach Michael Hudgins said. "The challenges every night is a different puzzle trying to figure out which group is going to play well together. When 7 or 8 of them are playing well together it's a great advantage for sure. If we get 10 all playing well together we would really love it."

The Seahawks spotted Hampton Christian a 1-0 lead on a technical foul free throw by Gianni Street due to a violation before the start of the game. Atlantic Shores then scored the next 10 points including two treys from Terrick Philpot forcing an early Hampton Christian timeout. Philpot would add five more points before the end of the quarter and he personally outscored the Warriors 11-10 to help Atlantic Shores to a 22-10 1st quarter lead.

The Seahawks maintained their 12-point lead going into the halftime break then preceded to pull away in the 3rd quarter. Byron Nelson made back-to-back 3's while scoring 10 of game-high 16-points in the 3rd quarter as the Atlantic Shores lead ballooned to 48-25 with 1:38 to go in the 3rd.

VMI commit Tragen Fahl scored all eight of his points in the second half while adding 11 rebounds and four blocks. P.J Roach added eight points and six rebounds while senior Carl Trice had a nice all-around game with five points, six rebounds and three assists.

Atlantic Shores took away a lot of positives from the game one thing in particular impressed Coach Hudgins the most.

"Effort more than anything. We're really trying to hold the guys accountable with effort and execution and just playing together and for each other."

Tyler Buckner led Hampton Christian with 12 points. Justice Smith added nine points and six rebounds while Chase Mann contributed nine points and seven rebounds.
