Interview with VirginiaPreps:
We recently has a nice conversation
with Ahmad and learned quite a bit about this highly sought after linebacker.
Despite
reports of his running a 4.4 or 4.5 forty time, Ahmad told us that his fastest
is really a 4.62. "I can improve that, as I have not really been
timed this summer" he said. When asked about why he has not
attended any college camps this summer Ahmad told us, "I did not want to
show any favoritism towards any colleges and by attending a particulars
school's camp it might have been interpreted that I favored that
school." Ahmad did attend the Nike camp in April.
Schools that he
will definitely visit include Florida State, Virginia Tech and the University
of Virginia. "There are a lot of schools that I am interested in
that have shown interest in me," Ahmad said. Other schools that might
receive an official visit include: Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio
State, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh. Ahmad told us that the list is
subject to change. When asked if distance might play a part in his decision,
Ahmad said, "Yes it will be a factor, both my mother and father would like
to be able to come see most of my games." Ahmad also said, "If
all of the top high school players would stay in state, we would have two
great college programs."
Ahmad's parents both attended Southern
University, and while they are both from Louisiana, Ahmad has lived in
Virginia all of his life. His father played for the Redskins, which just
happens to be Ahmad's favorite NFL team. When asked about playing for
the Skins in the NFL, Ahmad just laughed and said, "I would play for any
team to get a chance at that level".
Ahmad told us that he
enjoys playing basketball, video games (he even gave me a few hints on the new
NBA Street Playstation 2 game - maybe now I can beat my son!) and plans to play varsity basketball for Hylton this winter after the football
season is over. But his current plans are to enjoy the football season,
"give it 100% and make up for the time I did not get to play last
year" (Ahmad missed most of last season with an ankle injury that he says
is now completely healed), "This is going to be my year," he told
us.
