ROANOKE, Va. -- The pull to go to one school was always there as both of his brothers chose to go to the same one. But Dan River (Va.) Rivals250 linebacker Tremaine Edmunds still went through every option.
Edmunds had a dozen offers, but in the end, he kept going back to the same school. And that school happens to be the same as where his brothers are. On WSLS-NBC's six o'clock newscast, Edmunds announced he's headed to Virginia Tech. The announcement was also streamed exclusively on HokieHaven, com and Rivals.com.
Edmunds, No. 217 in the Rivals250, Rivals.com's No. 15 outside linebacker and No. 11 player in Virginia, is the currently the Hokies' highest-ranked commitment for 2015.
"It's been a long journey for me, myself and my family," he said. "I just wanna thank all the schools that recruited me, took time out to come visit me and everything like that. But I'll be attending Virginia Tech next fall. Virginia Tech is just a great school. The coaching staff was just great. I enjoy being up there every time I go up to visit."
Edmunds' older brothers are Virginia Tech redshirt sophomore running back Trey Edmunds and true freshman defensive back Terrell Edmunds.
The brothers' father, former Miami Dolphins tight end Ferrell Edmunds, played and graduated from Maryland, one of Tremaine's four finalists. His other two were USC and Wake Forest. Other offers came from North Carolina, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Virginia, East Carolina, Old Dominion, Hampton and Liberty.
The youngest Edmunds is now commitment No. 10 for the Hokies in the 2015 class, nine of which have come on the defensive side of the ball. He joins Rivals250 cornerback Mook Reynolds, three-star cornerback DuWayne Johnson, three-star defensive end Trevon Hill, three-star linebacker Adonis Alexander, three-star defensive tackles Harry Lewis and Eric Whitehead, three-star linebacker Carson Lydon and two-star linebacker Damien Dozier. Three-star running back Deshawn McClease is Virginia Tech's lone offensive commitment thus far.
