2014 Louisville KY ATH commits to WKU

Sunday afternoon, 2014 Louisville (Ky.) Butler athlete Joe Brown verbally committed to Western Kentucky University. He chose the Hilltoppers over offers from Indiana State and Arizona.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pound athlete played both running back and cornerback during his prep career with the Bears. Though he'll only be playing defensive back during his time in Bowling Green.

"It fits me better from a football and educational standpoint of all my choices and I'll end up playing a big role as a freshman. " said Brown on his commitment.

The fact Coach Petrino left for Louisville didn't affect Brown's decision in the least. As the newly-hired head coach Jeff Brohm helped in recruiting him to The Hill.

Even with a commitment, it looks as if Purdue will continue to recruit Brown until he signs on Feb. 5, but right now he is solidly committed to WKU.

At the beginning of his senior year Kentuckypreps.com interviewed Brown about his recruitment and he believed he was close to a commitment then. That was in August, we are now in January but never the less Brown ultimately made his choice between the Arizona and WKU.

During his senior campaign, Brown laid his body on the line. He suffered a few injuries that hindered his play during the season. For instance, a case of bruised ribs kept him from running the ball in an early-season matchup against Male, though he and fellow corner Ta'Vaughn Morton still managed to lock down the Bulldog's prominent passing attack.

The Brown-led Butler Bears made it all the way to the semi-finals of the state championship.

Brown comes into WKU with a historically good class by their standards. The Hilltoppers are racking in on the in-state talent. A class complimented by Bowliing Green WR Nacarius Fant, Collin's Deandre Farris and others, now has an in-state cornerback that will come right in and make an impact.
