Spartans strike in Illinois

Michigan State hit it big today as two top Illinois Class of 2014 prospects gave the Spartans verbal commitments at the Spartans spring game in east Lansing, Michigan. Both Hinsdale Ill. Central three star ranked offensive center recruit Brian Allen and Chicago Mount Carmel three star ranked defensive tackle recruit Enoch Smith Jr. gave Sparty their verbal commitments. Get the details here.

Brian Allen, who will join his older brother Jack Allen at Michigan State talked about why he gave the Spartans his verbal commitment today.

"It feels great to be joining my brother and becoming a member of the Spartan family. A lot of my decision was being comfortable with the coaches. I have gotten to know a lot of recruits and now I just want to focus on my relationship with my future teammates."

Smith Jr, who earlier this month in effect shut down talking about his process posted his commitment on Twitter.

"As of now and forever I am a Michigan State Spartan!!!!!! #GoGreen #GoWhite"

Smith Jr. also confirmed his verbal commitment to Michigan State when reached via text message tonight and said that he would be able to make comment on his decision "Tomorrow."
