Titans Roll on Saturday Afternoon: There's nothing like being a Lake Taylor Titan on a Friday night. Or now the case is on a Saturday afternoon after the decision by Norfolk's superintendent to move all Eastern District football games in the city from Friday nights to Saturday afternoons. That move came in wake of a Lake Taylor student being murdered following a Friday night football game.

Playing host to an improved Maury Commodores team, Lake Taylor rolled to a 48-14 victory after a scoreless first quarter as their offense warmed up nicely to put up 399 yards and the defense proved to be stifling, allowing only 26 yards.

"We were a little sluggish early. They were doing some stuff we don't normally see on film, but once we picked it up that's when we started scoring," said Lake Taylor junior tight end/defensive end Jalyn Holmes, a BCS prospect with well over a dozen offers. Holmes caught a pair of touchdown passes on offense and made three tackles for loss on defense.

Lake Taylor junior quarterback Delmon Williams enjoyed the best game of his career. Williams completed 10 of 12 passes for 199 yards and six touchdowns, a new school-record. For the season, he's still yet to throw an interception in six games, making him the only starter in the Eastern Region with that distinction to go with his 762 yards passing and 14 touchdowns.

Three of Williams' touchdown passes were to receiver Harry Freeman. Backs Brandon 'Pork Chop' Moore and Daquan Davis combined or 190 yards rushing and a touchdown. Those two have over 1300 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns through six games.

Now 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Eastern District, tied with Granby and Norcom atop the league standings, Lake Taylor is averaging 44.2 points per game and has yet to allow an opponent to gain more than 100 yards on them. The Titans not only lead the Eastern Region in scoring offense, but are giving up the fewest points per game contest as well at 4.5PPG.
