#10. GEORGE WYTHE: The Maroons return Division 1 skilled Hardy Lester (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) will be difficult to stop this season. Wythe also returns a bigger and stronger Jordan Atwood (pictured) at middle linebacker and running back, who had over 170 tackles last season. Big things are expected from this experienced squad.

#9. AMELIA COUNTY: The Raiders return a solid group on the line led by Jalen Jones, Levonte Bradley, and DeAndre Johnson who should clear the path for their great athletes. Dillon Weaver is expected to compete for the quarterback position and Dontre Wilson should make a big time impact with the ball in his hands.

#8. FRANKLIN: Streak? The Broncos have won the state championships under coach Darren Parker in the years the Summer Olympics have been held. Incoming Sussex transfer Brian Crockett will add to an already fast and talented backfield featuring Travis Brown and the elusive Marcus Stephens. That streak could continue.

#7. GALAX: The Maroon Tide came close to capturing a state title and will look to capitalize off last year's magic. All around big play producer Steven Peoples returns, along with his equally talented brother, Donte and the talented duo should help Coach Mark Dixon get his squad get back to Salem. Timmy Gable is expected to lead the way at quarterback this season.

#6. SUSSEX CENTRAL: The Tigers are led by Division 1 prospect John Jones (pictured) at wide receiver who will help make their new quarterback Deqwandre Jones comfortable. Charles Bryant (6-foot-5, 200 pounds) will be a big target and is expected to have a breakout season along with running back Darian Curley.

#5 RIVERHEADS: The Gladiators were expected to challenge for a title last year but who says they can't this season. Logan Moore (pictured) returns at running back runs a 4.49 40. He is instant offense and will be a big reason for the Gladiators to challenge for a title.  Last season Moore rushed for nearly 2,000 yards on 201 carries and scored 32 touchdowns! Coach Robert Casto always has the Gladiators ready to play, and up front will have returning juniors Robert and Michael Herndon to block for Moore.

#4 GOOCHLAND: Goochland came 'oh so close' a year ago, but lost out to Tony Miller and Gretna is D-2 state title game 21-16. The Bulldogs lost a lot but return enough skill players to control their district. Jordan Jefferson is expected to compete for the starting job at quarterback and Mitchell Brice (pictured) should have a big year at tailback. Getting home field throughout the playoffs is a priority this season for Coach Joe Fowler and the Bulldogs.
